The land owned by the company consists mostly of galestro. This rock is a clay schist, formed by the compression of clay, which breaks easily into prismatic pieces. This type of soil helps us practice organic farming thanks to its drainage properties, as it prevents both weeds from growing and moisture from lingering on the vines.
Currently, 80% of the vineyards are planted with Sangiovese, 12% with a mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot, and 8% with native varieties (Colorino, Pugnitello, Ciliegiolo, and Foglia Tonda).
In 2019, Vermentino and Grechetto were also planted, and at the highest point of the estate, Antonio discovered a gigantic stone during the work; Riesling has now been planted next to it.
All of the company’s products are registered with protection consortia such as the Orcia Consortium, and the Toscano PGI Consortium, and are certified by ICEA (Institute for Ethical and Environmental Certification), an organization that monitors and certifies companies that conduct their business with respect for people and the environment, safeguarding the dignity of workers and the rights of consumers.
